Hi,
This is a voice that you don’t usually get in this Substack.
This is Sonja Allen, Marshall’s wife.
A Legacy
It has been nine months since Marshall’s unexpected passing. I wanted to send a sincere thank you to his readers and supporters. An overwhelming number of you have reached out to me with kind notes and words of gratitude for Marshall, along with appreciation for his work that he was passionate about. Thank you, it means the world to me.
Marshall was a man of faith, a wonderful father, loyal friend and a loving husband. He was an incredible investigative reporter and author who made complicated and intimidating subjects accessible and actionable. He was even a legal reformer, driven by a sense of justice for the everyman, whom he hated to see being taken advantage of. He championed patients and he helped people fight back against unfair medical bills and practices.
He was also an incredible cheerleader and coach, celebrating the wins of everyday readers who would share their stories with him. And he was convicted by his faith to be as generous as he was just. He spent so much of his time and resources to help those who needed it.
Continuing The Mission
With the help of some of his friends and colleagues, we intend to continue this work having created The Marshall Allen Project, a 501(c)(3).
This new Not-For-Profit has already invested substantial time and resources in building new tools. As a nonprofit, we will continue to provide free guidance, education, advocacy and more. You may have noticed, this newsletter will now take on that new moniker. The Marshall Allen Newsletter is now the Marshall Allen Project.
With the help of guest writers like Andrew Gordon, this space will continue to regularly report on the wins of consumers and patients who pushed back and won.
We are still working through the past few months of notes and missed messages. But, if you have a Victory Story of your own, please continue to share them.

Advancing A Vision
We Will Need Your Help.
Marshall envisioned a world that could be more just, fair, and caring. But he wasn’t willing to wait for it. He lived in a world he wanted to see created, in which people were empowered to fight the anonymous systems that resisted that emergence — one where individuals didn’t simply accept the status quo.
There are three things you can do TODAY to help advance this vision.

It was a pleasure to upgrade and make a donation to this cause. Marshall and I spoke frequently, butted heads at times but his cause is a noble one and we should continue what he started.
Upgraded. Now that you are a 501(c)(3), expect a portion of my 33 Ways book proceeds to be donated to this cause. We are all fighting the good fight when it comes to helping people get they were promised.
