Your stories, tragic as they are, give me hope. You are making a difference in real people’s lives, one by one. I’m so glad to hear folks are pitching in with money to help. Still, individuals shouldn’t have to depend on the kindness of strangers and crowdfunding to fight this unfair medical system.
Thank you for your work and bringing this inequity to light.
Hi Donna - I agree that it would be ideal for individuals to not have to depend on the kindness of strangers. But that's not the reality of our health care situation in this country, as we all know. So we are working to provide hope in the midst of these tragedies, as you point out. My ultimate goal is to educate and empower people so they can be protected from these situations. Thank you for your comment!
I used to work at DSHS and it is standard practice for SS to deny the first application. Then you apply again and they sit on the application for multiple reasons. In WA state the best route is to have an attorney represent you after the first denial. This is not just or fair but that’s how it’s done hear

I don't understand why Diane's sister did not have Medicare, if she is receiving SS disability payments or Medicaid, due to low income.
I asked the same, SG, and they said that for some reason she got rejected for Medicare disability.
